1950년 10월 25일, 영국요크셔주에서 
태어난 크리스 노만은 1970-80년대에
우리나라에서 비틀즈를 능가하는 
인기를 누렸던 영국그룹 스모키의 리드보컬로
허스키하고,호소력 넘치는 목소리가 일품이다.
1970-80년대에 우리나라에서 비틀즈를 
능가하는 인기를 누렸던 그룹 Smokie의
리드 보컬로 허스키하고, 호소력 넘치는 
매격적인 목소리로 그룹의 인기에 크게 기여. 
82년 그룹 해체후 솔로로 전향하고, 
그룹스모키는 1989년 멤버를 
보완하여 재결성한다
비틀즈로부터 막대한 은혜를 입은 
영국 요크셔 태생의 4인조 소프트 팝록 밴드 
스모키(Smokie) 크리스 노먼은 리드싱어로 활약했으며 
국내에서의 인기는 비틀즈 못지 않았다.
1970년대 중반부터 우리나라 라디오를 
도배했으며 이들의 베스트 음반은 지금까지도 
꾸준히 팔리는 스테디 셀러 반열에 오른지 오래다.
감수성이 풍부했던 편안한 음악들로 
본국인 영국에서보다 오히려 한국에서의 
인기가 대단했던 대표적 그룹이다.
