세 개의 플래티넘 음반을 연달아 내면서 Loverboy는 80년대 초반 가장 성공한 주류

   하드 락 그룹 중 하나가 되었다.

   보컬리스트 Mike Reno, 기타리스트 Paul Dean, 베이시스트 Scott Smith, 키보디스트

   Doug Johnson, 드러머 Matthew Frenette로 구성되었다. 밴드는 1980년 캐나다

  토론토에서 결성되었으며 곧 CBS Records의 제의를 받았다.

  그 해 후 Bruce Fairbairn이 프로듀스한 데뷔앨범이 나왔다.

  하드 락 싱글 "Turn Me Loose"와 "The Kids Is Hot Tonite"이 들어있는 앨범이었다.

  그 앨범은 곧 캐나다와 미국에서 플래티넘을 기록한다.

  Loverboy는 1981년 Get Lucky를 발표한다. 그러나 이 앨범은 유럽지역에서 실패한다.

  그럼에도 불구하고 그들의 콘서트는 성공적이었다.

  밴드의 행운은 1983년 앨범 Keep It Up까지 계속 된다. 프로듀서가 바뀐 후 더욱 거친

  사운드를 갖게 되고 그것은 상업적으로 적합하지 않을 정도였다.

  그러나 그들의 팬은 그 앨범마저 플래티넘으로 만들었다.

 

1989년 공식적으로 그들은 해체한다.

  그 후 몇몇 멤버가 솔로로 나서기도 했지만 Loverboy는 재결합해 1998년 라이브 앨범

  Loud and Loose로 돌아온다
