1980년 11월 21일 세종문화회관 대강당에서 성대하게 막을 올린
제2회 TBC 세계가요제는 11월 23일까지 장장 3일간 계속되었습니다.

눈이 내리네의 샹송가수 살바또레 아다모, 일본의 월드스타 핑크 레이디,
부기우기 댄싱슈즈의 클라우디아 베리 등 대단한 가수들이 초청되었습니다.

우리나라에서는 무지개 트리오가 "사랑의 길목"으로 외국인 심사위원장상을,
박경희씨가 "머무는곳 그 어딜지 몰라도"로 최우수 가창상을, 윤시내씨가 "열애"로 은상을,
조용필씨가 "창밖의 여자"로 금상을 받으며 축제를 성황리에 마치게 되었습니다.

영예의 그랑프리는 이 곡의 주인공인 모잠비크 대통령의 딸인 수디가 영광을 안았습니다.
대상을 수상했다는 소식에 모잠비크 전대통령께서 친서까지 보냈다고 하네요.

이 노래는 당시 디스코의 열풍을 타고 80년대 초반을 화려하게 장식했으며,
이듬해인 1981년,민혜경씨가 "사랑의 절정"이란 곡으로 리메이크해 또 한번 힛트를 기록하게 되었죠.
