'2013 빌보드가 뽑은 베스트 앨범 15'중 10위. 빌보드 평론가들이 선정한 15장중 유일한 컨트리 앨범이기도 하고

미국이 컨트리 음악의 본고장이긴 하나 2013년에 발매된 수많은 앨범 중 왜 선정됐는지 먼저 궁금했다.

 발음하기도 어려운 케이시 머스그레이브스(Kacey Musgraves)에 대해 먼저 알아보는 것이 순서일 듯.

 

1988년 8월 21일미국 텍사스주 미네올라 태생의 케이시 머스그레이브스(본명: Kacey Lee Musgraves)는 USA

Network에서 방영한 오디션 프로 <Nashville Star> 시즌 5(2007)에 출연했던 것이 그녀의 주요경력 모두이지만,

 2013년<머큐리 내시빌>에서 발표한 메이저 데뷔앨범인 본작을 발표하면서 인생의 큰 전환점을 마련했다

 성공적이었다.

이는 컨트리라는 한정된 울타리 안에서는 더 이상 이룰 것이 없었던 테일러 스위프트로서는 어쩌면 최선의 선택이었다.

 

덧붙이자면 2014년 그래미 어워드 컨트리 부문에서 라이벌로 거론되었던 케이시 머스그레이브스에게 완패한 결과가

그러한 결심을 더욱 재촉했을지도 모른다.
