미국의 4인조 힙합 그룹. 초기엔 힙합이 중심이었으나, 4집부터 일렉트로(단순히 전자음악이란 뜻보다는 드럼머신을

과감히 사용한다는 뜻에서의 힙합비트, 일렉트로 2번째 항목 참조)적 색채가 강해져서 일렉트로 합(Electro-hop)

뮤지션으로 분류하기도 한다.

힙합이라는 단어를 보았을 때 떠오르는 요소인 붐뱁or 트랩 비트, 돈-섹스-마약 가사는 적은 편이며, 팝과 일렉트로적인 요소가 강하다.

때문에 힙합을 좋아하지 않는 사람들도 즐길 수 있어 다른 힙합 뮤지션들에 비해 호불호가 적은 편이다.

처음 결성은 1992년도이지만 실제적으로 블랙 아이드 피스란 이름을 달고 활동한 것은 1997년부터이다.

 초기 멤버는 윌 아이엠과 애플딥으로, 친구인 단테 산디아고(Dante Sandiago)와 함께 애트번 클랜(Atban Klann)

이라는 그룹으로 활동했다.

이후 단테가 탈퇴하고 블랙 아이드 팟(Black Eyed Pods)이라는 이름을 쓰다 최종적으로는 블랙 아이드 피스

(Black Eyed Peas)라는 이름으로 활동하게 된다.

이때 타부와 킴 힐(Kim Hill)이 멤버로 합류한다.

이때까지만 해도 블랙 아이드 피스는 색다른 스타일의 힙합 그룹정도로만 주목 받고 있었다.

블랙 아이드 피스가 본격적으로 명성을 얻게 된 것은, 홍일점일 킴 힐이 탈퇴하고 와일드 오키드(Wild Orchid)

 출신의 새로운 보컬 퍼기를 영입하여 발표한 3집 Elephunk부터다.

 <Let's Get It Started>, <Where is the love>, <Shut Up>, <Hey Mama> 등 주옥같은 명곡들을 선보이며 선풍적인 인기를 누리게 된다.

당시 3집 앨범은 470만장 이상의 판매고를 올리며 북미는 물론 유럽 지역을 강타, 이윽고 그래미 시상식에서 힙합상을 받기에 이른다.

하지만 진정한 전성기는 다음 5집 앨범이라 할 수 있다.미국 뿐 아니라 전세계를 Boom Boom Pow와 I Gotta Feeling으로 싹 쓸어버린다 \ <Boom Boom Pow>, <I Gotta Feeling>, <Imma Be>가 연속으로 빌보드 차트 1위에 오르며, 세 곡이 토탈 28주 동안 빌보드 차트 1위에 오르는 기염을 토해냈기 때문이다.

2010년에는 6집 The Beginning을 발표하여 <The Time (Dirty Bit)>, <Don't Stop The Party>, <Just Can't Get

Enough>, <Rock That Body>등으로 꾸준히 고퀄의 노래를 히트치며 팬들의 사랑을 받고 있다.

현재 2016년까지도 블랙 아이드 피스가 해체라는 소식도 없지만, 윌아이엠과 퍼기는 솔로 음반을 계속 내고 활동이

 활발한데 비해 타부나 애플딥, 이 그룹 자체의 활동이 아예 없는 상태다.

그러다가 2016년 9월 6일, 새 싱글을 내면서 드디어 화려하게 컴백을 할 준비를 하고있다.

지난 2011년 5월 중순 한국에서 가진 인터뷰에서 윌아이엠은 음악 불법복제에 대한 새로운 시각과 자세를 제시하여

사람들의 시선을 모으기도 했다

이들의 다음 정규 앨범인 Monkey Business 역시 세계적으로 큰 히트를쳐 미국에서 4x 플래티넘 인증을 받고, "

My Humps" "Don't Phunk With My Heart"등 많은 히트 싱글을 남긴다.

2009년 다섯 번째 정규 앨범 The E.N.D.를 발매하고 첫 싱글 "Boom Boom Pow"는 빌보드 핫 100에서의 1위는 물론

각종 세계적인 차트에서 정상을 차지하며, 두 번째 싱글 "I Gotta Feeling" 역시 빌보드 핫 100 차트에서 1위를 거둔다.
또한 네 번째 싱글 "Imma Be"도 빌보드 핫 100 1위를 차지하며 한 앨범에서 무려 세 개의 히트 싱글을 만든다.

이 싱글들의 1위 기간을 합치면 무려 26주라는 기록이다. 그 외 싱글 "Meet Me Halfway"와 "Rock That Body"도

많은 인기를 누렸다. 이들의 싱글 "I Gotta Feeling"은 영국에서만 100만건 이상의 다운로드 기록을 세웠다.

이들은 2011년 2월 6일 슈퍼 볼 XLV에서 공연을 펼칠 예정이며, 아리아 어워드에서 가장 인기가 많은 아티스트로

 인정받았다.

블랙 아이드 피스 (The Black Eyed Peas)는 1995년 미국 캘리포니아주 이스트 로스앤젤레스에서, 리더이자 메인

래퍼 겸 프로듀서인 윌아이엠(Will.I.Am), 리드 래퍼인 터부(Taboo), 여성 메인 보컬리스트인 퍼기(Fergie) 그리고

Boom Boom Pow는 2009년 발매한 그들의 다섯번째 정규 앨범 The E. N. D.의 첫 싱글로 그룹 최초로 빌보드 차트

1위에 오른 곡이다.

2009년 4월 18일자부터 7월 4일자까지 연속 12주간 빌보드 핫 100 차트 1위에 올랐고, 두번째 싱글 I Gotta Feeling도 연이어서 7월 11일자부터 1월 10일자까지 연속 14주간 1위 자리를 지킴으로써 블랙 아이드 피스는 연속 26주간

 1위라는 깨지기 힘든 대기록을 만들게 된다.

 

 그 전까지는 2004년 어셔(Usher)가 Yeah!로 연속 12주간 1위 (2004. 2. 28 ~ 5. 8)를 한데 이어 후속곡 Burn이 연속

7주간 (2004. 5. 22 ~ 7. 3) 1위를 함으로써 두곡을 합쳐 연속 19간 1위에 오른 것이 최장 기록이었다.

 

블랙 아이드 피스의 같은 앨범의 세번째 싱글 Imma Be가 2010년 3월 6일과 13일자 2주간 또 다시 1위에 올라 한 앨범에서 3곡의 1위곡을 만들어 낸 흔치 않은 기록도 가지고 있다.  

 

블로그에는 지금까지 곡을 먼저 알고 포스팅 해 왔는데 이 곡은 곡 자체의 대단한 기록 때문에 곡을 찾아 들어 보게

하고 포스팅하게 만든 케이스이다. 

 블랙 아이드 피스는 지금까지 여섯개의 정규 앨범을 발매했다. 

앨범 타이틀 The E. N. D.는 The Energy Never Dies를 뜻한다.
