혼잣말을 하고 나이가 든 것 같은 느낌이 들면, 가끔은 포기하고 싶어져요.

 오빠 '리차드(Richard)'가 작곡과 '키보드(Keyboard)'를 담당하면서 아름다운 음색을 자랑하는 '듀엣(Duet)'

 '카펜터스(Carpenters)'의 1973년 1위를 차지한 곡으로 '탑 오프 더 월드(Top Of The World)' 이 곡은

 '카펜터스(Carpenters)'의 맑고 깨끗한 '보컬(Vocal) '음색이 매력적인 노래입니다.

'카펜터즈(The Carpenters)'에 대한 것은 이미 많은 부분이 알려져 있고, 자료도 방대하지만 혹시 모르시는 분들을 위해 몇자 소개합니다.

'카펜터즈(The Carpenters)'는 오빠 '리차드 카펜터스(Richard Carpenter)'와 여동생 '카렌 카펜터

(Karen Carpenter)로 이루어진 남매 '그룹(Group)'입니다.

오빠 '리차드 카펜터(Richard carpenter)'는 고등학교 때 '밴드(Band)'에서 활동했던 것을 계기로 '카렌 카펜터

Karen carpenter)'가 고등학교를 졸업한후 노래를 함께 하자고 권유를 하면서 본격적으로 활동을 시작하게됩니다.

처음에는 다른 친구들과 함께 '스펙트럼(Spectrum)' 이라는 이름으로 '밴드'를 결성해서 활동을 했습니다.

하지만, 이 '그룹'은 뚜렷한 활동을 하지 못 하고 이내 해체가 되고 말았습니다. 이후에1969년 첫번째 앨범을 발표하지만 인기를 얻지 못해고, 두번재 앨범 1970년도에 발표된 곡 '크로스 투 유(Close to you)'가 '싱글챠트(Single Chart)'

#1위에 오르면서 비로서 인기를 얻고 세상에 알려지게 됩니다.

세번째 앨범은 '카펜터즈(The Carpenters)' 이름을 그대로 걸고 발매를 하게되는데, 이것으로 '팝 스타 그룹

(Pop Star Group)'의 반열에 들게 됩니다.

이들은 수많은 명곡을 남겼는데 그중에서도 가장 많은 사람이 알고 인기가 있는 것은 1973년도에 발표된

 '탑 오프 더 월드(Top Of The World)' 와 '예스터데이 원스 모어(Yesterday once More)'입니다.

이 두곡은 현재까지도 전세계인에게 꾸준하게 많은 사랑을 받고 있는 곡이기도 합니다. 노래는 대부분 동생인

'카렌 카펜터Karen Carpenter)'가 부르지요
